There are many forms of swing dancing including East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, DC Hand Dancing, and dozens of others, but, Lindy Hop, the original swing dance, is still popular around the world. Born in Harlem, New York in the 1930s. It was danced to swing jazz, the most popular music in the United States from the 30s to the 50s, which ranges from slow and sultry to groovy to blazing-fast and energetic.
Series classes are weekly classes for 1 month. You will learn the dance skills necessary for social dancing. The progression of our dance series classes elevates dancers' skill and knowledge of each dance form while focusing on social dancing.
Beginner Lindy Hop
Program: Relive the jazz era with Lindy Hop, the infectiously energetic and rhythmic dance that swept the nation in the '30s and remains a popular dance today. Learn the core footwork and techniques that make this dance so dynamic. We will go over these topics throughout the series: Basic rhythms, partner connection, 6-count patterns, and jazz steps.
Intermediate Lindy Hop
Requirements: Beginner Lindy Hop or Equivalent
Program: This class will take you beyond the fundamentals to help you explore and develop a deeper partnered connection, musicality, and personal style. Unlike Beginner Lindy Hop, this class will rotate three topics on a monthly basis. You should take this series three times to ensure you have learned all of the Lindy Hop Intermediate material. You do not have to take them in any particular order.
We will rotate through these three topics per month and then repeat:
- Intermediate Lindy A: Connection and Rhythm
- Intermediate Lindy B: Swingouts and Variations
- Intermediate Lindy C: Charleston
Advanced Lindy Hop
Requirements: Intermediate Lindy Hop A, B, and C or Equalivent
Program: As an advanced dancer, you understand that dancing is more enjoyable when you deepen your knowledge and understanding of the dance. In this ongoing series, we’ll explore the rhythms, connections, patterns, history, and stylings that make Lindy Hop and jazz dance so creatively rich. Our continually rotating topics are designed to level up your dancing each month.

Students should know or be aware of upholding and down hold basics, out-and-ins, lollies, and toss outs. Potential students can take a private lesson to learn the basics and be qualified to take this series. Email HERE if you have any questions.
West Coast Swing
Program: West Coast Swing is a partner dance that is primarily danced to modern music. It is characterized by an elastic look that results from its extension-compression technique of partner connection and is danced primarily in a slotted area on the dance floor. The dance allows for both partners to improvise steps while dancing together, putting West Coast Swing in a shortlist of dances that emphasize improvisation. This class is designed to teach you the fundamentals of west coast swing. The goal of the series is for you to leave the class with the ability to enjoy a west coast swing social.
