Rhythm, Musicality, & Timing
Mondays | 6:00 - 6:30 PM
This class is aimed at salseros but is great for anyone wanting to understand more about music. Let’s demystify “finding” the 1 and have fun with rhythm! In this class, we will learn effective ways to count, use your body as a natural rhythm keeper, ways to listen and sharpen your ear, as well as some fundamentals of music theory so you can begin to incorporate more feeling, movement, and control in your dancing!

Somatic movement is an important and potent way to move through trauma, anxiety, depression, blockages, rage, grief and can begin to create space in our bodies for our deeper essence and purpose to shine forward. Kate will show you exercises that can assist in connecting you to your inner time-keeper, expression of music, and help you feel more relaxed, authentic, and confident in your body. This class is about how you feel. In this class, we focus on your relationship with your body from the inside out. Kate will spend the first 5 to 10 minutes of the hour offering some loose suggestions to help tap into your unique movement and ways to stay in touch with yourself even when it gets really overwhelming to feel your essence
Meditation & Active Rest
Thursdays | 11:30 AM - 12:00 PM
30-Minute meditation focused on breath control, resting while maintaining wakefulness, and active relaxation with a guided body-scan. No meditation experience needed. Everyone can meditate. This is a non-judgemental space to explore ways to tap into a more authentic you. If you’re a dancer this class will help you become more aware of your body, your spatial awareness and enhance your sense of calm. Strongly recommend a weekly if not daily practice for all dancers. Please bring a stack of books 3-4 inches tall for posture assistance to this class along with a blanket or towel.
